Impeachment Weekend...

|

Let's Gather Signatures on Impeachment Weekend

It's impeachment weekend - let's gather signatures on our impeachment petition:
http://www.afterdowningstreet.org/petition

Last weekend we organized over 60 successful impeachment events around the country, thanks to your outstanding efforts.

Even FOX News noticed! On Monday, our own David Swanson and former Rep. Elizabeth Holtzman went into the lion's den to argue for impeachment on Hannity & Colmes:
http://www.democrats.com/node/11407

We're having an impact - Bush's polls are dropping to record lows near 30%. Richard Nixon resigned in 1974 when his approval fell to 24%.

But we're not waiting for Bush beat Nixon in a race to the bottom. Congressional Democrats should begin impeachment hearings right after they complete their 100 hour agenda in early January.

If you haven't already, please sign our Ten Reasons to Impeach Bush and Cheney Petition online:
http://www.democrats.com/peoplesemailnetwork/88

Then print this PDF version of our petition, make copies, and collect signatures from friends and neighbors.

One good place to collect names is right in front of your Representative's office, if there is passing foot traffic. You should bring a big sign so your Representative (and staff) can't miss it. Other good locations are busy malls, libraries, and post offices. Be creative! You can also go door-to-door in your neighborhood and bring your petition to work.

Collect and submit names anytime, but especially on Impeachment Weekend, December 16-17, 2006.

You brought this blight, the Bush Administration, on to you and on to the rest of the world as well. The only way that you can achieve a redemption for yourselves and concequently be forgiven by the rest of us is if you finally muster courage enough to humigate these cockroaches out.

There must be a real judgment day set for Bush and his criminal cohorts, and by this I do not mean the Biblical one that he obviously preferes. His crasp on reality, according to his reaction to the Baker Comission's report, idicates that this man learns nothing from the mistakes, takes no advice that contradicts his ideology, spares nobody to meet his wants, and gladly sacrafices everybody outside his inner circle to achieve his hairbrained neocon hallucinations.

To think, that this incompetent fool is trying to lead your great country for two more years without the approval of her people and respect of the other world leaders is absolutely ridiculous and totally devastating to your interests. No one man should be afforded such a misplaced protection that has to be paid by countless of millions where ever they may live.

Impeach the bastard now!

I thoroughly resent people from other countries claiming we did this, the Bush disaster. I, one of hundreds of thousands, worked to the point of exhaustion to stop it and it pains me to be lumped in with the ignorant fools who did vote for him and those who rigged elections. As for the impeachment thing - I am so on it.

Good luck with the petitions..

Sumo! All of those links goto broken JavaScripts!

No worries though. I can't read/type and do so shall I.

Thank you muchly, Lady!

lol! I can read and type! Honest!

Check it out. This (kinda) proves it!

{-; Thanks again, Sumo.

Dear Mary, I can see you being resentful for my insensitive remarks and opinions about you Americans. I also understand, that I, coming from lesser significant country, might not qualify as somebody who should make those observations about you. I apologize for that!

However, the humans being such as they are, I just followed the long established practise of blaming the whole nation for the sins of their leaders. Just like is the case, for instance, with the Germans. Come to think of it, we still blame them for the sins of the Nazis although there hardly is anybody alive from that era and certainly not any responsible ones. Besides, you as a democracy elected the these modern day Huns twice. Mary, the next time I cross the line of decency like this, I will make extra effort to mention that Mary and his ilk are not included.

Peace!

Thanks for posting this, Sumo!

Re the criticism of the U.S., I would like to echo Mary's point that hundreds of thousands of Americans have worked to the point of exhaustion to end Bush's reign of tyranny. And we are still working, and we will not stop working until our criminal leaders are brought to justice.

With that said, our country deserves criticism for the evildoing of the Bush administration. I personally hold responsible every single member of Congress who has ever cast a vote in favor of legislation that furthered Bush's illegitimate authority and murderous policies. I personally hold responsible every American who voted for this madman not once, but twice.

Now I'm off to spread the joyous word about impeachment...

Problem is how do you impeach '0'?

While Bush and his evil cohorts deserve impeachment or worse for their crimes against America and humanity I sincerely hope that we can focus our energy on beginning the process of reversing the damage. An impeachment right now would take a lot of energy and time away from what our Congress should be doing. I want the bastard hoisted by his own petard more than anyone but not at the expense of beginning the long process of reclaiming our place in the world of civilized nations. We have a responsibility to our fellow Americans and our friends around the world to begin fixing the fuckup. History is going to judge George Bush quite harshly and that will be very painful for someone with his ego.

I agree with pekka, we brought this on the world by placing our faith in the corpocracy. By playing the Democrat/Republican game, we will never effect real change because either side refuses to hold the other accountable lest they asked to be accountable on their watch. It's only when we seek solutions outside of the two party system will we be able to impeach Bush (and Cheney)and and the war, and even stop the next one.

I wish I was eligible to sign that!

Pekka...Many of us didn't vote for that retard. I for one totally believe they cheated and Al Gore won. In 2004 I know they cheated again. And there were morons that voted for him 2 times...as if once wasn't enough. But those of us who knew what a mistake he was are a tad sensitive to being lumped with the idiots that did indeed vote for him. When he cheated and won the 2nd time...it was a terrible blow to us...believe me we have been in a terrible funk over it for some time. People like us care very deeply what the other countries think of us...knowing we can't control that. It has been a very bitter pill to swallow. Recently we have new hope...not sure it will turn out quite like we'd like...but we can take to the streets over it if we don't like it. There are ways to make it miserable for them. i've apologized on my blog to people of other countries hoping they'd see it and know that not all Americans are stupid...and certainly not arrogant enough to think in the terms that we often are perceived.

Mary...yes we are trying very hard to get some sense into this thing.

Thanks Happy...we do try...I sign and leave a speech on anything I can get my hands on.

Okay Mr. Bains...get on it!

Bluegrrrrl...you are right along with Pekka...there is much responsibility that this country deserves...just not all the citizens.

Mandt...how do we impeach 0...that's a good one.

Monk...I agree...there are alot of important things out there to address really of more importance...I have said that many times...but he' just losing it bad. He's too delusional and gets worse with time. He's so mentally f*cked up it isn't funny. He needs an intervention!

Lew...You're right...I read your post about the corpocracy...made lots of sense. We have to keep on top of it.

Egg...wish you could too...Canada is close to our troubles by virtue of geography...and if I were you I'd be worried.

Oh the hell with it if you like me or not! From where I stood a few years ago, it looked awfully clear that the vast majority of you, Dems or Repugs, were hell bent lashing out blindly whom ever where ever.

Enter Saddam Hussein, the convinient whipping boy, and your collective enthusiasm for war was displayed with no uncertain terms. When the things predictably did bog down, all sorts of dissaproving voices started to be heard.

Unless you want to rewrite history, you can't get away by just saddling the whole mess on the narrow shoulders of this monkey boy, Bush.

You should stop being so thinn skinned and start examening why your society is so warlike. It just doesn't wash that the only reason for it is your "exceptional" leaders whom don't rightly reflect your views. In democracies, we get the leaders we deserve, don't we? The blame has to be shared and if not, bring on the next stupid war!

Pekka...all I can say for myself is I was against the Gulf war totally and against Afghanistan and Iraq starting up...very against. I certainly do understand where you are coming from. I think the American public should be allowed to vote whether or not they want their country to go to war. You know how I would have voted. We wayyy need to exhaust having talks with other nations if there are problems. Our dear Dub wouldn't talk to anyone...he just went forward with what he and his cronies wanted. They certainly didn't ask me. I think they should immediately get out no matter what. Bush's bunch and that includes the Dems and voters colluded on this one. I can sleep at night knowing I had no part in this thing. As a citizen I have written letters, signed petitions, gone to war rally's and peace marches and voted against this crap. I haven't contributed much financially though.I think Barbara Boxer and Diane Feinstein hate to see my name on any online missive they receive. Thank goodness neither of my sons happen to be involved in this...but it could happen. And if it does...you will undoubtedly find out who the sumo is because I will raise such a stink that Cindy Sheehan will have to stand aside. For good or bad I will be in the news...and it won't be pretty. I'm all for a judgement day for Dub and his fiends (friends). Oh, and I enjoy all opinions...there is nothing wrong with yours at all. I don't feel any responsibility in the war though. It's not like we're going to be able to physically over-power the guy and make him stop. It doesn't work that way here...we'd be deader than a door-nail. But, we can try very hard by signing petitions and letters to our respective representatives...and in the end if they do not heed the will of the people...there will be consequences. We have too many good Congress people that are trying as we type. It does take time though. The fastest way out of this thing is an alternative that would put somebody underground or in prison for life...and I don't want to go there...I want to grow old and have kitties running all over my house.

Dear Sumo, I am so glad that you are classy enough lady to respond to my rant the way you did. I also wish that I could tone down my critisism about subjects I don't obviously know enough. Cat is out of the bag though, so; here kitty, kitty!

Person like you sure do not have any reason to apologize anybody. However, my intention was really not directed to likes of you and some others commenting here, but to a large number of Democrats that were, especially in the beginning, acting no different than those Repug rascals.

I am just beginning to realize what enermous power your President has, and that led me to judge your collective inability to stop wrongs as your unwillingness to do so. It seems to me, that the excecutive power there might be a tad too strong, and when you have an oddly incompetent facist(?) like Dubya - doubly so.

Peace!
.

Pekka...it's the criticism around the world that may be an option or reason for the politicos to think differently of this thing and bring it to a halt. It's not exactly fun to be the only kid in the sandbox that the other kids want to kick sand in his face. The other nations have a great deal to do with world opinion...and I would think that the Dub's hair would stand on end at the thought of it. It could be that he is very isolated from outside the oval office. They around him know he doesn't want to hear anything bad...and they want to keep their jobs. He definitely isn't in the loop...and he won't see...and they can't make him see what he really needs to do. And that is get the hell out of the MidEast. He's just nuts! He needs a base to work from in the MidEast in case we are attacked...he can bomb the crap out of the other nations because he would have the close at hand bases. So even if he stopped the war...he would leave troops on those bases to keep the others in check. He will not listen to even the ISG report that was done for his benefit through his daddy. Trust me when I tell you as American citizens we are scared. Yet we want to do something about it. We can't get to him to reason with him that's for sure. So we are doing more and more what we did during the time of Viet Nam and marching with banners and signs. And if it is done long enough and gets big enough...it may cause the kind of change that we effected in the 60's and early 70's. We never thought we'd see this happen again. We are hoping an impeachment will uproot this tangled mess and someone smarter will be able to make sense of it. It will take until after I'm dead and gone I'm sure for the world to become a better place thanks to what a few men wrought. Of course the MidEast has really never been settled...but this just made it a thousand times more unsafe. May peace be upon these poor people some day.

There was only one item in your good comment that I have a slightly different take.

Instead of being isolated by the people around him, Bush made sure that the only ones with unshakeable believe in the great leader's monopoly in detecting right and wrong were to approach the Oval Office. The Baker Report, if written in Kantonese, would have made him no less sense than this English version did. If one is megalomanial, narcistic, simplistic, ideological nitwitt, one better make sure at least winning something. Outside the elections, what are the triumphs of this man? And no, I don't consider getting inside Laura's panties a triumph.
